BAND NAME: Apostasy

GENRE: Unblack/Thrash Metal

STATUS: Changed name
(Active under new name, Seven Eyes of God)

LOCATION: USA (Pueblo, Colorado)

Formed in 1991, predating Belzidum, Vomoth and Horde!!

This might actually be the first-ever unblack metal band.

Formed under the name Beheaded.

Obviously not to be confused with other bands with the same name. These specific guys only played a few shows before adopting the name "Apostasy". Later changed their name to At the Altar.

The band photo above was taken "some time between 1994 and 1998". [1]

They were supposed to be on a Rowe Productions compilation, but they couldn't get a decent enough recording in time.

In addition to playing guitars for the band, Sean was the owner of Catacomb Studio (where they recorded all of their demos) and was a sound man for their live shows! (Also working with bands like Mortification, Living Sacrifice, and Possession!)

Can anyone read the Hebrew at the bottom of their logo? It looks like "אב" but I'm not sure.
Update: It was supposed to be Hebrew for "God" but it's unclear if it's correct or not.

"The first demo was recorded by Paul Daugherty and another drummer who didn't want to be identified ( he was a secular death/grind drummer) It was only available directly from the band and via the old narrow path zine"

Supposedly single-sided, but I can't confirm that. Although the person who sent me the above photos tells me that there's a sticker on only one side of the tape, so it's very likely.

Had recorded a 3rd demo, but the master tape was stolen. One of the guys confirmed this on the old Blackened Hymns forums, and it was also confirmed by their friend I've been talking to.
