"The artwork shows Doktor Schnabel von Rom (by Paul Fürst, 1656), those who were recognized for being community doctors, and despite not having specialized training, were the only ones to assist the population in Black Death times (doctors with specialized training only cared for the elite). The image is a way to remember the importance of communitarianism ethics in public health, assisting the needy, the most vulnerable, responding to the common good and not only to a few ones. According to Suma Qamaña, "without the well-being of all, the well-being of oneself doesn't exist, oneself cannot live well if others live badly" (a view very congruent with Christianity). A recognition of the health professionals of today, that we have been present, on the ground and without resting, to face the needs of the population in pandemic times."
