ALARETIN

Thank you very much to Alex for the updates!

BAND NAME: Alaretin
GENRE: EDM (early), Thrash (mid), Black Metal (now)
STATUS: Active
LOCATION: USA (Penn Township, Pennsylvania)

Alex wishes to emphasize he considers this band "Black Metal", not "unblack" or anything like that.

He also notes that Alaretin is currently unsigned; Hepburnia Records is just a personal imprint of his, not an actual label.

Originally an EDM band, but as Alex grew closer to God, he felt his style gravitating toward black metal and it became clear to him this was the style he was to focus on writing/playing. Those pharisees who denounce rock/metal music as "evil" should take very careful note of this. - NI.

Write-up from the artist:
Alaretin is a Black Metal solo project that explores the depths of the human experience, navigating the complexities of faith, doubt, and the enduring search for meaning. While drawing inspiration from the core tenets of Black Metal, the music transcends the typical raw, lo-fi intensity, embracing a polished production that allows for greater depth and nuance. This refined approach allows for a more dynamic and immersive listening experience, showcasing intricate melodies, complex structures, and a potent blend of aggression and atmosphere. While occasional forays into blackened Death Metal, blackened Thrash or blackened Progressive Metal may occur, these explorations remain strictly musical in nature, focusing on the creation of powerful and evocative soundscapes that reflect the profound and often paradoxical nature of the human condition. Free from any Anti-Christian sentiments, Alaretin invites listeners on a journey of introspection and reflection, urging them to confront their own inner struggles and seek solace in the face of adversity.

A Triptych of Psalms (split, 17 February, 2025, Independent)
Format: Digital / Bandcamp

Split with Rejoice in Our Suffering and Oak of Weeping.
Also set for a release on streaming sites.

The artist gives some additional context in the notes:
“You laid affliction upon our backs” as described in Psalm 66:11 is explaining in a broader sense to the passage God’s refinement process for His people. It’s to remind us as Christians that [trials] are not meaningless. God uses hardships to shape our character, increase our faith, and bring ultimate restoration through Christ Jesus who laid His own life for our sins.

1) Alaretin - Psalm 66 - How Awesome Is He
6:52, lyrics:
Make a joyful noise unto God,
all you lands praise!
Sing forth the honor of His name;
Make His praise glorious
Psalm 66: 1-2 (KJV)

Say to God, ‘How awesome are your works!
Through the greatness of your power,
your enemies will submit themselves to You’
All the earth will worship You; they will sing praises to Your name!
Psalm 66: 3-4 (KJV)

O Bless our God, you people, and make the voice of His praise be heard!
He holds our soul in life and does not allow our feet to be moved
For you, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined
You brought us into the net; You laid affliction upon our backs
Psalm 66: 8-11 (KJV)

My own strength does not yield the proof that I can do
anything without You!
Who am I on my own? But a sinner struggling with the ways of this world;
Lord your strength prevails!

The awe-inspired moment captures my soul knowing that
Jesus Christ died so we all can live!
Apart from You O Lord this world would be crushed; You
are the only light that shows the way!

Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what he has done for me, for you and for this world – Psalm 66:16 (KJV)
Come and hear, all you who do not know THE LORD! His might conquers all,
His love, mercy and grace permeates the breadth of this universe

O Bless our God, you people, and make the voice of His praise be heard!
He holds our soul in life and does not allow our feet to be moved
Psalm 66:8-9 (KJV)
