Metal Archives says Devilcrusher formed in 1992. My one friend says 1993. Either way they changed their name to Berith in 1995. According to [this interview], they changed their name because people were dismissing them too quickly under their old name, so they wanted a different one that was less "in-your-face". When they were active, they often refused to use labels like "white metal" because their intention was simply to play music they enjoyed, and talk about things that were important to them. They didn't intend to "evangelize", so to speak, and thus didn't want to call their music "white metal". Incidentally, they also refused to be called "Christian black metal" because they felt the term "black metal" referred more to an ideology than to a musical style.
According to the same interview, they split up in 2000 because they were becoming impatient with each other, and felt that as a band, they weren't accomplishing what God wanted them to. They became active again in 2005 after Cassio Antestor contacted them about releasing their album. In their own words, the band had matured during those 5 years, and were ready to play again.

This video actually got the attention and interest of Die Hard Records (who have released music from bands like Anthrax and Grave Digger!) but nothing ended up happening because the band split up in May of the same year. [1] (It's stated in the video that it was edited in March of 2000, and the band split up sometime in May, giving about a two-month time period when this would have been released.)
Track 6 is the instrumental intro to the song "Anomalia", released under their old band name Devilcrusher.
